NKJ Matthew 5
And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Reminder:  Blessed (makarios) - supremely blessed, fortunate, well off, happy
This is an internal blessing unlike    eulogeo that means external blessing prosper

Review:
Blessed are those who are poor in spirit…. Those who are totally bankrupt before God and see their need for Him
Blessed are those who Mourn…. Those who mourn over there sins against God will be blessed
Blessed are the meek… Meekness is not weakness, it is Strength under control of the Holy Spirit

Key verse: 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

1. By now you should have realized that the beatitudes Are the way to get into the Kingdom of God…
2. And what we also learn is that the beatitudes are the way to live successfully once you are in the Kingdom God…

 1. What is Righteousness?
Righteousness - dikaiosuna - innocent, holy, absolute complete rightness, correctness, and perfection in every area…

Romans 3:10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;

2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

So we can become the state of absolute complete rightness, correctness, and perfection in thoughts, actions and feelings… Because of Jesus…

There are only 2 kinds of people…. Righteous and unrighteous
Do you Hunger and thirst for being righteous???  

2.  What does it mean to Hunger and Thirst???
Hunger & thirst are the two strongest impulses we have as humans…. We must eat and drink to survive…
They are necessities…

Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Psalm 42:2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.  When shall I come and appear before God?

John 7:37. On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

John 6:35. And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

3.  What does it mean to be filled?
Filled - chortazo - means to gorge supply food in abundance)…. Filled to the fullest… (loosen your belt)…. You are satisfied…

Psalm 107:9 For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.

Jeremiah 31:14 … And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the Lord.”
